Sunflower Bank, N.A. is excited to announce the 2025 winners of its Community Partner Awards. This annual grant program recognizes and supports outstanding organizations across the communities in the seven states served by Sunflower Bank and First National 1870. In 2025, $90,000 is being awarded through twenty-two grants between $2,000 and $15,000.

Sunflower Bank, N.A. is proud to announce that its Community Partner Awards are continuing in 2025. Now in its third year, this annual grant program recognizes and supports outstanding organizations across the communities served by Sunflower Bank and First National 1870. From July 28 to August 22, 2025, community members can nominate local nonprofit organizations located in eligible counties in Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Texas, and Washington.

Sunflower Bank, N.A. has donated a total of $103,590 to K-12 schools and school systems that participated in its ABC Program for Education’s 2023-2024 school year campaign. In addition, the ABC Program’s “Pay for As” drawings throughout 2024 resulted in $28,500 in payments directly to students as a reward for academic achievements. Since 2001, the ABC Program has donated over $1.8 million to support education in Sunflower Bank and First National 1870 communities.

Sunflower Bank, N.A. has announced the public nomination period for its 2024 Community Partner Awards. The Community Partner Awards were created in 2023 to provide grants to outstanding organizations in Sunflower Bank, First National 1870 and Guardian Mortgage communities. From July 30 to August 23, 2024, the public has the opportunity to nominate local community partners in qualified counties of Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Texas, and Washington for an award.

Sunflower Bank is pleased to announce that it has hired four experienced commercial banking teams in Southern California. Southern California’s commercial banking market will be the largest market for Sunflower Bank and provides an opportunity to continue the expansion of its relationship banking model for middle market clients. James Canepa joined Sunflower Bank in April 2024 to lead the new teams as Executive Vice President & Regional President. In this role, Canepa is responsible for the strategy, management and growth of Sunflower Bank’s commercial banking, private banking and wealth management services in greater Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernadino, Orange and San Diego Counties. Award recipients have been named and Sunflower Bank, N.A. congratulates them for their important work and thanks them for their impact on their respective communities.

In addition, the ABC Program’s “Pay for As” drawings throughout 2023 resulted in $23,380 in payments directly to students as a reward for academic achievements. Funds were distributed by local branches throughout October to participating schools and winning students. Since 2001, the ABC Program has donated over $1.7 million to support education in Sunflower Bank and First National 1870 communities.

Sunflower Bank, N.A. announces the creation of a new Community Partner Award program to recognize outstanding individuals and organizations in its communities. Award recipients will receive grants to be used in support of their ongoing efforts to serve their communities. The Community Partner Awards program is led by the bank’s Community Affairs Office and will include participation from employees, individuals and local organizations throughout Sunflower Bank and First National 1870 communities in qualified counties of Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, and Texas. From October 11 - November 15, 2023, nominations will be open to the public so that each bank community has the opportunity to nominate local community partners for an award.

Sunflower Bank, N.A. announces its Bank On-Certified Achievement Checking Account is now available in all its Sunflower Bank and First National 1870 personal banking locations in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas and New Mexico. The Achievement Checking account launched only in Sunflower Bank’s Texas locations in September 2022. The Achievement Checking Account is certified by the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund’s Bank On National Account Standards (2023-24) for having 25 features for safe and affordable consumer transaction accounts.

Representatives from Sunflower Bank and Guardian Mortgage participated in the recent groundbreaking event for the Kiva East development in East Dallas. The event held on December 6, 2022 was hosted by city leaders and partners to celebrate the start of construction of the Dallas Housing Opportunity Fund (DHOF) project that includes an investment by Sunflower Bank first announced in October 2022.

Sunflower Bank, N.A. (“Sunflower Bank”) and its home loan division, Guardian Mortgage, announce the opening of a new home loan production office (“LPO”) located at 1005 West Jefferson Boulevard – Winnetka Place, Dallas, TX 75208. This new location reflects a strategic focus on providing more home loan and banking services to customers in Dallas-Fort Worth. Sunflower Bank entered the area in 2020 and Guardian Mortgage has been in DFW for over 40 years and is a national platform that originates home loans in 43 states. The Jefferson Boulevard office is staffed with three Community Reinvestment Act (“CRA”) Mortgage originators to lead business development in the surrounding South Dallas neighborhoods.
