The preliminary results for the 2025 ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge (ASC25) are in! Following a rigorous evaluation of the preliminary results from student teams representing 300 universities worldwide, the ASC Committee has selected 25 outstanding teams to advance to the highly anticipated finals. This year’s finalists include leading institutions such as Zhejiang University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, University of the Witwatersrand, and Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen- Nuremberg. These teams will showcase their supercomputing prowess as they compete for top honors, including the Champion, Silver Prize, Group Competition Award, e Prize, and Highest LINPACK. Hosted by Qinghai University from May 10 to 14, 2025, the ASC25 finals promise to be a thrilling showcase of innovation, teamwork, and cutting-edge computing in pushing the frontiers of AI and HPC integration.

The ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge 2024 (ASC24) gladly announces that the highly anticipated ASC24 finals will be hosted at Shanghai University.

The ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge 2024 (ASC24) kicked off its inaugural briefing session at SC23, revealing the timeline for the upcoming competition. Aspiring undergraduates worldwide are invited to register for ASC24 on the official website with a registration deadline set for December 15, 2023. The 10th ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge Finals will be held at the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei from May 6 to 10, 2023. Out of over 300 teams from universities worldwide, only 24 have advanced to the finals. The top 20 teams from the Chinese mainland will participate in the finals on-site, while the top 4 teams from outside of the Chinese mainland will participate virtually using the AWS cloud computing platform. All the teams will be challenged with tasks such as large language model, DeePMD, WRF-Hydro, high-performance benchmarks HPL and HPCG, group competition, and a mystery application. They will also present themselves before the jury, competing for awards such as the Champion, Silver Prize, the Highest LINPACK, and e Prize.

The Opening Ceremony of the 2022 ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge (ASC22) was held on January 19, 2022. In-person participants attended gatherings in Beijing, and at the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei. In addition, more than three hundred registered teams’ representatives from around the world participated online.

The preliminary round of the 2022 ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge (ASC22) kicked off on January 5, 2022. More than 300 teams around the world compete on challenging tasks like the large AI Language Model Yuan 1.0 and the 2020 Gordon Bell Prize-winning application DeePMD-kit.

Registration for the ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge 2022 (ASC22) is underway. Undergraduates from around the globe can register on the ASC official website (http://www.asc-events.net/ASC22/). The first briefing session for ASC22 will be held virtually at the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analysis 2021 (SC21) on November 16th, 11 am CST. The session will be hosted by Vangel Bojaxhi, Executive Director of ASC, who will introduce the competition system, schedule, tasks, etc.
